Sohel’s Journey of Determination & Dreams

When Sohel welcomed at SOS Children’s Village with his siblings, he was just a child. He found a family and care. Like many children facing hardship early in life, Sohel initially struggled with his education. But what set him apart was his unyielding spirit. Sohel’s breakthrough came when he was introduced to the world of coffee. He joined a Barista training course, where he found not just a skill, but a calling. His dedication landed him a job at North End Coffee Roasters in Bangladesh. But Sohel didn’t stop there. He dreamed bigger. With hard-earned experience and unwavering determination, Sohel founded his very own Barista Academy in Dhaka. Today, it is a vibrant hub of learning, where over 100 young people receive certified barista training every month. Through his academy, Sohel is creating employment opportunities, building confidence, and changing lives, just as his life was changed at SOS. A Role Model for the Next Generation Sohel’s journey, from a struggling student to a successful entrepreneur and trainer, now inspires countless youths across the country.

At SOS Children’s Villages Bangladesh, the “Sponsor a Child” programme allows individuals to provide financial support to a child in need, helping to cover their education, healthcare, and basic living expenses in monthly basis.
The cost varies depending on the supporting a child per month e.g. BDT 1500 for education, BDT 2600 for food or BDT 5000 for complete care.
Sponsored children usually receive access to education, healthcare, nutritious food, and other essential services like living under a caring SOS Mother in a SOS Family to improve their quality of life.
Sponsorship can be a long-term commitment, often lasting until the child completes their education (23 years). However, sponsors can choose to support a child for a shorter period as well.
Yes, you can communicate with your sponsored child through donor service team and sometimes even visit them.

The funds are typically pooled to ensure all sponsored children receive the necessary support.
This includes education, nutrition, healthcare, and daily expenses.

Yes, sponsors usually receive periodic updates (once in a year), including letters, profile, and sometimes photos.

We are a non-governmental social development organization dedicated to providing care to the children who have lost their parents or are at risk of losing parental care and support disadvantaged families and ensuring the well-being of children. When families are unable to care for their children, SOS Children’s Villages provides quality alternative care through its SOS Family- Like Care Programme. This programme offers a nurturing environment where professional caregivers look after small groups of children in a setting that closely resembles a family. This approach, recognized by the UN Guidelines for the Alternative Care of Children, ensures that children grow up in a stable, loving environment.
